For over a year now, we have been witnessing – through the media – the most documented genocide in history: the suffering, death, and human tragedies of Palestinian women and men in the Gaza Strip.
Lament has become a space for mourning for home, region, vanishing landscapes, and for life itself. It is a performance without words, because I cannot find any. It became a solitary lament of a human being, left with a swirl of anger, powerlessness, and helplessness on a small patch of sand.
Life seems to be one eternal, never-ending day. A day filled with dangers and horror scenarios, which often involve the fact that they can blend into each other. Our new collective routine is to listen, to witness, to sit as we walk among death.
